The first tourist train in Armenia
300 mostly European tourists will visit Sevan, Yerevan, Gyumri, Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi. During the entire trip, they will live in sleeping carriages owned by the “South Caucasus Railway”, like in hotel rooms. In particular, they will have access to comfortable sleeping places, air conditioning on the way, showers and other services. During this time, the guests will be able to fully get acquainted with the culture, history, nature and sights of Armenia and Georgia.
Charter travels are not new for “SCR” – the company actively provides such services in suburban rolling stock – electric trains. The last such travel was carried out on the Yerevan-Gyumri-Yerevan route on June 21. However, this is the first time the company has used international rolling stock for these purposes.
General Director of “SCR” Alexei Melnikov: “Railway tourism is quite a popular activity, but not in Armenia. This innovation is intended to diversify the range of services provided by our company and is a kind of innovation for our entire region. We hope that our guests will appreciate the quality of the services provided, and rail tourism will become a common phenomenon in Armenia. “SCR” intends to continue developing this type of transportation.”
“Gepard Express” is a company specializing in the field of railway tourism, with extensive experience in providing such services.
