HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

1895

A decision was made to build the Tbilisi - Alexandropol - Kars railway.

1899

In winter, the first train arrived in the Armenian city of Alexandropol (now Gyumri).

1942

Armored train No. 701 "Soviet Armenia" was built during the Great Patriotic War.

2009

The Railway Museum of Armenia was officially opened at the Yerevan station.

Railway Museum of Armenia (Yerevan)

Opened on July 31, 2009, at the Yerevan station. The exhibits collected in the museum represent the entire history of Armenian railway transport. Information about current projects of "SCR" CJSC can also be found here.

Open-Air Exhibition

Railway Equipment Museum (Gyumri)

Opened on August 4, 2013, on Railway Worker's Day. The museum features equipment operated during the Tsarist, Soviet, and modern periods. It is not only a historical collection but also an educational platform for college students.

Century-old Steam LocomotiveThe oldest exhibit, which was in operation over a century ago.

1910 Production TrainA unique 3-car train weighing about 53 tons with special nameplates.

Tumanyan Station and Memorial Complex

The station, bearing the name of the great Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan, is not only an important object of railway infrastructure but also part of Armenia's rich historical and architectural heritage.
