Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train to start running on June 14
Tickets for the train will go on sale soon. For the duration of the route - from June 14 to October 2, the train on the Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan route will be canceled.
According to the Director General of “SCR” CJSC Aleksei Melnikov, the demand for travel on the international route among citizens of Armenia and guests is traditionally high. "The summer season of passenger traffic is quite active, and together with our Georgian colleagues, we are actively preparing for its start. In addition to the international train, a seasonal electric train from Yerevan to Sevan and Shorzha will also be used. These are quite popular summer routes, and “SCR” CJSC will do everything to organize them safely and comfortably," A. Melnikov noted.
In addition to railway workers, representatives of state bodies responsible for passing citizens through border checkpoints were also present at the meeting. The possibilities of simplifying border and customs procedures when crossing the Armenian-Georgian border by train were discussed with them.
Among other issues, the parties discussed the launch of a tourist train based on the rolling stock of the “South Caucasus Railway” CJSC, which will run for 3 days in Armenia and 6 days in Georgia. The initiator was the Czech company "Gepard Express", which intends to attract mainly European tourists to the route.
The international train “Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan” consists of three types of modern cars: sleeping cars, compartments and coach-sleeping cars. Travel time from Yerevan to Batumi is about 16 hours.
