During the Summer Season, the South Caucasus Railway Transported More Passengers than in 2023
During the summer passenger season of 2024 (June-September), the South Caucasus Railway company transported almost 220,000 passengers, which is 2.8% more than the same period last year. In particular, 29,500 passengers were transported in international traffic by Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan and Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan trains. In suburban traffic, 190,400 passengers were transported during the same period, including 7,600 passengers who used the services of the seasonal Yerevan-Shorzha-Yerevan electric train.
This year, the start of the summer passenger season was interrupted by the destruction of railway infrastructure in northern Armenia due to spring floods. This led to a decrease in demand for international transportation in June. Since October 1, the Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan train has been running in international traffic.
